(Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?) Kai hadn't answered his question about whether or not he was tired, but Graham didn't really need him to, anyway. He looked to be dead on his feet, and Graham resolved to kidnap him later tonight so he could give him a nice relaxing massage. Kai would always insist he didn't need one, but Graham could be a total mother hen and he knew it helped, so he'd just turn a deaf ear to his friend and send him off to dreamland with his hands.
He waited for Kai to check on his smart phone (idly wishing he had the money to afford one, it would be way easier to keep in touch with his family that way, rather than occasionally traveling to the computer room to send an email), his face remaining neutral as he heard the price. Thirty dollars was a lot of money for Graham Kerr, even when he had worked all summer. His family hadn't always been poor, but when his father had left them - when Gray was just about to turn nine - they had found themselves struggling to make ends meet. Graham had worked since he was eleven years old, a streetkid that had grown to understand London, and with the money he made they were able to live in a two bedroom apartment. Arthur had a room and his mother had one, and whenever Gray was home he'd simply sleep on the couch.
The first time he'd brought Kai home he'd felt ashamed of their shabby home, but his friend had said nothing about it, a fact Gray was thankful for. Nowadays he barely talked about his family's money problems, making sure he made do with the little money he'd managed to save over the summer. It wasn't much, a hundred and fifty dollars for the entire school year - and most of that went to cigarettes - but he wasn't going to sit in his dorm and bow out of every social interaction just because he was poor. He'd find some way to make do with the little he had, and if it meant quitting smoking, well, at least Kai would be happy. "That's fine" He assured him, smiling a little.

Canyon couldn’t help but grin when he saw Kai’s phone. It was a pretty nice one, he had to admit. Even though it’d certainly be fun to have one, Canyon was satisfied with his little LG thingy. It had everything he wanted: unlimited texting and he could call his parents whenever he wanted to. That’s all. He didn’t need the internet or any fancy apps. He had a laptop for that. Then again, Canyon never was exactly technologically savvy. He liked to keep things as simple as they could be that way he knew how to fix it if need be.
Kai must have been loaded or something because when he had mentioned that all day bracelets were “pretty cheap,” Canyon expected like… fifteen dollars. Yeah, International Drive was a tourist attraction so it did everything in its power to suck money from visiting people but still... It wasn’t Canyon’s first visit, though. He should have expected something like that. It wasn’t like Canyon didn’t have the money. His family wasn’t exactly poor, after all. In fact, quite the opposite.
“That should be perfectly fine.” He smiled wide and glanced from Kai to Gray. They better be staying there for a while if it was thirty dollars. The senior wasn’t cheap but he didn’t exactly like wasting money. Thirty dollars could get him a nice lunch somewhere. Or a present for someone special – not that he exactly had anyone special at the moment. Still, he couldn’t help but to be a little excited. Canyon didn’t get out very often and he was glad to be going somewhere with his best friend a new friend. “This’ll be great!”
His eyes glanced around for one of the many clocks that were hanging around the school. He wasn’t in a hurry to leave but it always took him a little longer to get to classes for some reason. He had little energy and the stairs tired him out much quicker than they used to because of the cancer. He hated it and hoped it wouldn’t last forever. It was the reason he went running whenever he could. “Mmm, lunch is almost over. I should probably get my weak butt into gear for the halls get crowded.”

(Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?) "It's fine, Kai" Graham insisted gently, smiling at his friend. He didn't like being treated differently because of his lack of money and he didn't want his friends to have less fun just because he couldn't always afford things. If it had been a season pass to Harry Potter World or anything that was just too ridiculously expensive he would've said something, but it was thirty dollars. He'd find a way.
Yawning a little, he wrinkled his nose when both boys mentioned lunch was nearly over. Luckily his next class was held outdoors, because if he had to be cooped up in this building any longer he'd probably fall asleep. "What classes do you have?" He asked as he got to his feet, bringing the messenger bag around his shoulder. He wished it was Saturday already, or maybe just tonight, because he wanted to talk to his friends some more. He wanted to know how Can was really doing and he wanted to make sure that Kai wasn't so tired and worn out.
Resting a hand briefly on Kai's shoulder, Gray smiled at him, his hand moving so he could softly squeeze his neck. "C'mon good boy, you're supposed to be the one that tells me class is meaningful and that I should not skip" He teased him lightly, his hand dropping to his side again as he snatched one last fry, munching on it. He hadn't eaten all that much but that was okay. Gray was used to not eating every day, when he'd still been at home he would bow out of dinner and say he had already eaten with a friend, because the meal served was never going to be enough to feed three people. "Just think of how great Saturday will be and you'll get through it."

The senior glanced between Kai and Gray and couldn’t help but to throw his own two cents into the issue about the price, “It’ll come out cheaper, anyway.” This he was sure of. It only made sense. Every other business was like that when it came to tourist attractions.
With a sigh, Canyon pulled his messenger bag into his lap and clipped his lunch bag on to the strap so he didn’t have to carry it around in his hands. By the end of the day, he was normally lugging other things around like an extra book that just doesn’t seem to fit in his bag or his camera. It could be anything really.
He was prepared to go and probably should have left right then. His next class was on the third floor and the stairs weren’t exactly his friends anymore. They always tired him out and left him just a hair away from out of breath. One would think that with the daily practice he received scaling up the four flights of stairs to reach his dorm would put him back in shape, but they just left him exhausted – especially after a run. He normally just took his sweet, heavenly time when going up them but now he knew he’d have to rush in order to get to class on time. God, if the cancer didn’t kill him, the weakness it left him wish surely would.
Finally, Canyon found himself on his feet. Just a few more classes and then he could do whatever he wanted. “I better get goin’,” once again his gaze drifted back and forth between his two friends, “It was great getting to know you, Kai. See ya in psychology,” he looked at Gray sternly before a smile stretched across his mouth, “Don’t be shy. You know where my dorm is. Same numbers as always the only difference is it starts with a four. We got some catching up to do.” He reached out and patted Gray on his shoulder before actually turning to leave now. “See ya!”
Time to get to class before a stampede of students ran him over.
