Danny is always in motion, as if he always hears music. He judges people based on their voice, if it sounds melodic and nice, he’ll be quick to like you. When he’s walking through the hallways, he tends to skip a step or perform a little dance move before continuing down the hall.
TELL ME MORE, PLEASE? WHAT ARE YOU LIKE?
He's sweet, loyal and you can call on him at any time. But at the same time, he'll likely keep his distance from most people. He is friendly and sociable, but people can orbit in and out of his life in a flash. He will trust people easily, but loses touch just as quickly. He has trouble making real connections with people because of the secrets he hides. Dance is his life. His mom was a ballet dancer, and from an early age on he's taken lessons. He's learned to play the piano from her too, and he fondly remembers singing together while their dad played the guitar. He's been known to work really hard, though class is not always his top priority. But even when it comes to stuff he doesn't like, he'll likely do it without complaining. What he really works his ass off for is dance. Not a day goes by that he doesn’t practise.
Look, something shiny! Daniel has trouble focusing sometimes. He can get distracted mostly by music in his head, or how cute someone looks, or even by wondering what other people are thinking. He doesn’t mean to zone out on people [or homework], it just...happens. Fool me once, fool me twice...Sometimes people fool Daniel a lot of times before he turns away from them. He tries to see the good in people, and has trouble accepting that there are those who would hurt others on purpose. Daniel likes to have someone who takes care of him, saving him some breakfast when he’s late, that kinda thing. He won’t be clingy, but it’s nice to be the child once in a while.
To the outside world he is a happy boy, one who always has a smile on his face. He's the kid that is always dancing, always humming or drawing attention to himself without noticing it. He's got a magnetic personality that makes people want to be around him, but they soon find out that he's not allowing people to come close. Truth is, his home life isn't all that grand and he doesn't want to bother anyone with it.
THAT’S INTERESTING. CAN YOU TELL ME A SECRET? I PROMISE NOT TO TELL.
His dad being an alcoholic is a pretty big secret. He tries his best to cover it up. They live close to school, so he goes there quite often to clean up and make sure the man looks presentable (even if it means leaving school for an hour or two).
When Danny was twelve, his mom was diagnosed with cancer. It was a slow, torturous experience, and the one night that Danny wasn’t home (he was performing in a show), she died, just a few months after his fifteenth birthday.
People know that his dad has had a rough time afterwards, even though he technically still works as a freelance photographer. They aren’t exactly rich, even though his moms performances have left them enough money not to worry about things for at least another two years. It’s not like they spend it on much though – the house looks shabby, so do Danny’s clothes on more than one occasion. Though that might just be him being a teenaged boy.
Daniel desperately wants to dance. He is training so hard and hopes to become a part of a traveling dance group, or even act in musicals or something. As a back-up option, he is interested in doing something with kids...maybe sick kids or just teaching dance.
Oh, they also know, or think, that he's a slut. Although he's kissed a few people, he's only had sex the grand total of ONCE, and the girl cried out the wrong name when she came.
His biggest secret, that he's yet to tell anybody, is that his father abuses him. Danny looks so much like his mother that it infuriates him, and he's been hit quite a lot this past year. He fears, deep down, both that it's his fault somehow and that his father will never recover and in fact even gets worse. He's terrified that the man will sexually abuse him at some point too.
