“Remy, you do know what a break is right?”
At the question, said brown haired girl raised an eyebrow, turning to face the other. How many times had he already asked her this today? Ah yes, this would be the 3rd time within her 6 hours here. Remy sighed, clicking her pen, she lay it down next to a clipboard and laced her fingers together, placing her clasped hand under her chin as she looked at her coworker. “Why yes Pete, I do know what a break is.” She said, walking around the counter she was hunched over.” Do you know what else I know?” She asked, leaning back on to the counter, slapping her hand on a stack of paper at least eight inches high.” I know that if I take a break, none of these will get filed or sent in and we will all lose our jobs.” She ended with a smile. “Do you really want me to take a break?” she asked, though the look on her face betrayed that she knew the answer.
“Because of regulations, yes I do, but since my being able to pay for my car and house, and I completely forgot those have to be sent in by tomorrow, I’ll just let you off early today. Call it a deal?” He pleaded slightly. “I am the best?” Remy questioned playfully, looking underneath her nails waiting on his response.” You are indeed the best… The most high of bestness…. Your picture is Webster’s as the definition of best.” He said, inching ever closer to the exit. “I’ll be back around eleven, depending on how long the meeting is.” He said tossing his jacket over his shoulder.” I didn’t know that doing the vertical tango in a broom closet at your girlfriend’s job after her lunch break counted as a ‘meeting’ Pete. You must explain this when you get back.” Remy said with a smirk, laughing at Pete when his middle finger was his only response before he left the store.
The smile still planted on her face slightly, Remy hopped onto the counter top, grabbing the clipboard, another form, and her pen once more before resuming her previous tasks.
After about two hours of hard labor, which in Remy’s terms meant hand cramps, and the occasional confused customer, she was finally finished with all the forms, even having the time to package and stamp them in advance. Having put them away for tomorrow, she looked up at the clock, grimacing slightly as the hand slowly moved towards 11:41. In all honesty, she did know that Pete was actually attending a meeting, and they did tend to last long. She also knew that he would probably make a stop to his afore mentioned girlfriend, and though she knew of his bedroom prowess, from the many tales of the man himself, she doubted that they would take that long to finish up any ‘activities’ they were up to, unless he was going for a record of some kind. Remy usually couldn’t give a flip about what was holding him, seeing as she was able to run the store herself. However, her stomach had begun to show its anger at the fact of a missed meal, and with the third growl from the depths of hell itself, Remy was going to flip out.
She began muttering to herself, attempting to think of ways to at least get a snack from one of the machines.
" I could ask someone.....but I hate everyone else who works here...I should have eaten breakfast today, damnit! My mouth is watering just thinking about apple jacks.... I could have gone hunting too....but noooo, I was too lazy....I should have made more friends in school....what's that? My stomach....My stomach is alive!.....with juices like wine..."
and before realizing what she was doing, began singing aloud,
"And I'm hungry like the wolf!"
After remembering that she was in a quite different setting, Remy opened her eyes , that she didn't realize she closed, to the faces of a few customers who had stopped to stare. She smiled sheepishly before waving in a awkward manner. " Sorry guys...I'm just .....really hungry."

A rather tall, and slightly lanky female strolled through the mall in silence. Coming in at very nearly six feet tall, and layered in a plethora of her loud accessories she gathered a few odd looks here and there. Her loosely curled hair bounced along with her stride with a little help from the barely noticeable bob of her head as she tuned out all the 'traffic noise' and tuned into the music playing through the speakers of the building. She was clothed in cut-off, black denim shorts, a loosely fitted, white t-shirt with 'The Runaways' logo scrawled across the front, and red spray painted lettering that said 'CHERRY BOMB' on the back. The blonde's aviator styled sunglasses were pushed from her nose and into her hair, no point in wearing them inside right? Her face was laced with freckles, only some were hidden by her foundation, and her eye make-up consisted of heavy strokes of deep browns and golds. From her head all the way down to her worn out, red, converse clad feet the girl looked a hot mess. but, it was a good hot mess. She presented herself with confidence and that brought the whole look into perspective, she wore what she liked/wanted and didn't give a damn what anyone else thought about it.
The female passed by several popular stores, Tilly's, Pac Sun, Bass Pro Shop, and even the small Ron Jon location towards the front. But, with a large chick-fil-a bag clenched in her ring-clad fingers she walked past them with a bigger purpose. She was so distracted she almost didn't even hear the voice of one of her old neighbors and friends call her name out in greeting with a wave, "Addison! Haven't seen you in ages! We need to get lunch sometime, call me okay?!" The other darker haired female made a bee line for the blonde now known as Addison. Addy wrapped her arms around the girl in a quick hug, "Hey babe, You're right we do need to meet up! If I had more time we could catch up now but I'm trying to catch a friend while she's on her break! Call you this weekend maybe?" She responded to the unnamed girl, giving her a wave good bye as the brunette nodded in response, she turned on her heel and continued through the mall, Addison's stone colored eyes scanned the building for any other distractions that could occur before taking a hard left into the music store known as 'Muse'.
Within the first five steps into the store she heard a familiar voice, the specific voice she had came here for. "And I'm hungry like the wolf." The brunette sang, Addy smirked with a small laugh, her eyes glittered a bit before she began to laugh loudly at the customer's responses to Remy's serenade to her stomach. The blonde tried to sneak up to the counter, but with the jingle of her many bracelets and necklaces, and of course her obvious height there was no way Remy couldn't have seen her. "That's why you have wonderful friends who come to the mall for chick-fil-a and know how much you love it so they're so kind as to bring you some!" Addison placed the fast food bag on the counter with a grin, reaching in with a slender hand and pulling out the cardboard pouch filled with waffle fries before stuffing a few of them into her mouth. "Mmmmmm, these things are the best." She said, mouth still full, finally swallowing before pulling herself onto an empty edge of the counter to sit. "How's work been lady? Kickin' some arse and taking names I see?" She said playfully, motioning towards the huge stack of papers off to the side.

Remy smiled as she heard the familiar clinking of jewelry behind her and turned towards the sound. “I wonder what wonderful friend you might be talking about.” She said jokingly at the blonde, raising an eyebrow at her failed attempt to sneak in. She would have said more on the subject if her eyes weren’t attached to the bag of food in her hand.” For me?” she asked in a slightly shaky voice, her eyes resembling a puppy’s when a treat is being dangled in its face. Upon seeing the red curling font on the bag, Remy squealed, clapping her hands. “You are my messenger from the Gods above, come to feed me a feast!” she said dramatically, casting her hands into the air in a manner of celebration. To anyone who knew Remy as well as Addison did, they would know that it was quite a normal quirk of hers.
She waited till Addison had gotten her own food from the bag before she looked into it, her mouth beginning to water slightly as she inhaled the freshly prepared order. “Addy, I’m so happy I accidentally hit you with my bike all those months ago.” Remy said happily as she dived into the bag, a squeal of delight leaving her lips as she found her own personal favorite, a chargrilled chicken sandwich, complete with waffles fries. The first encounter the two had was quite interesting, and had anyone else heard it, it would be a wonder why the two even became as close as they were, but it happened almost as if it was fate. Remy did enjoy being around the blonde, and they did complement each other well, as if they sisters somehow. Remy even asked her parents once if they would adopt the girl, the question receiving a shrug from her father and a raised eyebrow from her mother, to which Remy only uttered “ Think about it,” before leaving them to their own devices. Either way, she was quite happy to call Ms Ollie her friend.
Remy hurriedly unwrapped the sandwich, filling her mouth with its grilled goodness, a look of contentment on her face. “I love this sandwich.” She stated dreamily, her cheeks to full capacity. After almost inhaling her lemonade, she shrugged slightly at Addison’s question.” Not so much kicking of the arse, but taking names, yes.” She said with a nod, taking a break from her meal to hop onto the counter alongside the tall blonde.
“I would have called and met you somewhere for lunch, but since I want to keep my job here, I decided to finish up this, since you and I, and everyone else who comes in here, already know that Pete was probably never going to get to it.” Remy said, waving her arm around gesturing to the scattered crowd of people in the store.” Now that it’s finally done, and a certain someone has taken time out of their awesome life to feed me, I think I can live the survive the rest of my shift today.” She said looking at her watch, counting four more hours until she could lock the doors of the small shop.
“So other than rescuing me from certain starvation, what have you been up today?” Remy asked the taller girl.” Did you see any cute guys today? Did you possibly even talk to one?” She asked in a giddy manner.” Namely, that cute guy that works at that store that you always drag me to so you can get more musical jewelry, huh?” She asked, raising her eyebrows in a hopeful manner before taking another bite of her sandwich.

A wide, pearly white, grin spread across the blonde's face, Remy's reaction to her gift of lunch made her want to burst into laughter. Addison grabbed the bag of food again, holding it out like a golden trophy before setting it back down, grabbing the rest of her food consisting of waffle fries, and a large sized box of their chicken nuggets. Chick-fil-a made the female drool, she could only hope that one day the raw meat she ate when in her shift would taste as good as this. "You're welcome, I'm glad you actually appreciate it. I think I could hear your stomach rumbling all the way from the food court, either that or our BFF telepathy chimed in at just the right time." Addy chuckled lightly.
"I'm so happy I accidentally I hit you with my bike all those months ago," Remy remarked, to Addison's own surprise she remembered the day with vivid detail. she was sure both the girl's would remember that day for a long while to come. What a fluke, neither Addison nor Remy had ever had reason to talk before. They were in the same grade, and probably had some of the same classes, but just never seemed to click. Addy never thought a bicycle accident would make her a new, and very awesome, friend. The female closed her eyes for a moment to let the memory of the event flood her thoughts. Remy's words interrupted the flow, but it was okay, Addison needed to snap back in to reality anyways. "Oh, le sweet, Sir Pete... what a moron is he." The blonde laughed a little louder this time, "He always leaves you with the crappy work so he can go bump uglies with his ugly girl friend. And no worries, love, you know I take care of my women." Addison gave Remy an exaggerated wink at the remark, noting the look of pure joy on her friends face from the gift of food she'd received.
"You only have a few more hours, you should be able to make it," Addy said with a small shrug. Remy's following questions floated through the air space between them slowly, Addison taking in her words thoughtfully. "Did you see any cute guys today? Did you possibly even talk to one?" The brunette asked in a cheerful tone, the blonde considered a response, almost as if she were rolling the words around in her mouth to see how they would taste before they came out. Remy even brought up the dark haired boy that worked at Tilly's, one of Addison's favorite stores for more than their lovely accessories and clothes. "Mmmm, Ethan. He is one hunk of gorgeous man... but c'mon Rem, you know me. I fail at talking to people in any sort of 'formal' setting." Addison sighed, twisting her lips in frustration. "I mean, meeting out at a club or something is different than school, or the mall, y'know? It's more personal in places like this. Like, if he didn't like me I'd be able to tell right away, then I'd look like a dumb ass. The female tugged at her lower lip with her teeth for a few moments, thinking about the few boys who lived in Orange county that she even had interest in. There weren't very many.
"What about you, eh? How many numbers have you gotten today?" Addison jested to her friend.
